Conformity certification before shipmentPVOC

From January 18, 2012, the Kenya Bureau of Standards executed pre-shipment conformity certification (PVCO) for goods exported to Kenya. This conformity certification project is used for specific products in specific areas.

1. Provide IDF, invoice boxes, test reports, etc.

KEBS and PPB of the Pharmaceutical and Drug Administration of Kenya recently sent importers of medical devices, Food Supplements, Medical Cosmetics, Herbal Products and other similar health care Borderline Products to Kenya. A joint announcement was issued. The announcement said that in order to avoid the harm of unqualified products to the Kenyan public, all the products previously controlled by PPB must also begin to implement the KEBS Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVOC). Importers of all related products must obtain Certificate of Conformity (COC) before applying for import license from PPB.

This regulation has been formally implemented since September 1, 2017 (arrival date). It is a special reminder to our partners who are engaged in the export of related products to Kenya in recent days.

Customs codes of products whose main impact can be referred to as follows:

§  2106: Food preparations not elsewhere specified or included

§  3005: Gauges, bandages, weddings and similar articles

§  3006: Other pharmaceutical goods

§  3822: Diagnostic laboratory reagent sand certified reference materials

§  4014, 4015: Hygienic or pharmaceutical products (condoms, examination and surgical gloves mitts and mittens)

§  5601:  Wadding; other articles of wadding – Cotton wadding

§  7017.10: Laboratory, hygienic and pharmaceutical glassware

§  8419.20: Medical,surgical or laboratory sterilizers

§  9001, Optical fibre and optical fibrebundles : optical fibre cables other than those of heading 85.44;

§  9004: Spectacles, goggles and the like,corrective, protective or other

§  9018: Instruments and appliances used inmedical, surgical, dental or veterinary sciences including syringes andneedles.

§  9021: Orthopedic appliances, including crutches, surgical belts and trusses; Hearing aids and other appliances which are worn or carried, or implanted in the body, to compensate for a defect or disability, splints and other fracture appliances. 

§  9022.12: Computed tomography apparatus

§  9022.13: Other, for dental use

§  9022.14: Other, for medical, surgical or veterinary uses
