 PC / SONCAP of Nigeria

SONCAP Certification Center (Nigerian Certification Center) was established in 2005. The company is a certification authority authorized by the Nigerian National Bureau of standards (son) to carry out the certification agency business of SONCAP in Nigeria. Any documents of all exporters and importers are handled by the Nigeria Office (SONOS) in your country.

On March 1, 2013, the Nigerian Bureau of standards officially issued a new operation procedure of SONCAP. In the future, each independent third-party organization will no longer directly issue the SONCAP certification, but the exporter will apply for the product conformity certification (COC) in the exporting country, and then the importer will apply for the SC certificate to the Nigerian Bureau of standards (son) with the valid COC

There are four steps to apply for Nigerian certification:

Step 1: product test;

Step 2: apply for PR / PC product certificate;

Step 3: apply for COC certificate;

Step 4: Nigerian customers go to the local government with COC to exchange sonap certificate for customs clearance

Product testing and PC certificate application process

1. Sample test;

2. Provide ISO17025 qualified institutions to issue test reports;

3. Submit PC application form;

4、 Provide FORMM number;

5. Provide product name, customs code, product photo, packaging photo;

6. Power of attorney (in English);

7. Carry out system audit for the factory; have ISO9001 certificate.

Apply for SONCAP certificate

1. SONCAP application form;

2. Copy or scanning copy of test report and ISO9001 certificate;

3. Inspect and supervise the loading and sealing of containers, and submit the final invoice and packing list after passing the inspection;

4. Submit from m list, commercial invoice, packing list, product photo and outer package photo;

5. If the PC registration certificate is from another company, the exporter also needs to provide the English authorization letter of the company held by PC.

Note: after the goods are produced, we should apply for SONCAP to our company immediately. We should inspect and supervise the goods according to the requirements and affix seals. After the goods are qualified, we should issue the SONCAP certificate. Do not accept post shipment applications.

Three ways of SONCAP certification in Nigeria

1. Route A, for occasional shipments in a year (PR);

The documents to be submitted are as follows:

① SONCAP application form;

② Product name, product photo, customs code;

③ Packing list;

④ Proforma invoice;

⑤ Formm number;

⑥ Inspection, sampling inspection (about 40%) and packing supervision are required, and the final invoice and packing list shall be submitted after passing the inspection;

Note: PR is valid for half a year, no need to audit the factory.

2. Route B, for multiple shipments of products in a year (PC).

The period of validity of the PC is one year after it is received, and the factory needs to review the factory. After the goods are produced, the factory applies for SONCAP; the name of the manufacturer must be reflected in the certificate for the selected mode B.

3. Route C, for frequent shipments in one year.

First, the factory applies for Licence, and the application conditions are as follows:

① At least 4 successful applications based on routeb;

② Carry out two audits on the factory and it is qualified;

③ Qualified test report;

④ The license is valid for one year.

After the goods are manufactured, the process of applying for SONCAP is as follows:

① SONCAP application form;

② Packing list; proforma invoice; Formm number;

Note: there is no need to supervise the shipment, and the shipment inspection only needs 2 times / year. This method only grants certification for one product and must be applied by the manufacturer (i.e. factory), which is not applicable to the exporter and / or supplier.

Matters needing attention

a. The applicant of PC certificate can only be manufacturer or exporter;

b. Product photos: to be clear, the label or elevator should include: product name, model, trademark, made in China;

c. Package photo: the outer package shall be printed with clear shipping mark, product name, model, trademark and make in China.

Application scope of Nigeria certification for hazardous products

Nigeria's APC said it will continue to strengthen cooperation with China, which also shows that the momentum of economic cooperation between Nigeria and China will continue. Products exported to Nigeria need to pass the SONCAP certification. In this process, Nigeria PC certificate is required. There are three types of PC certificates in Nigeria:

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·         <!--[endif]-->PC1 (product test report certification): each batch of goods shall be inspected and supervised, which is applicable to the products with single batch or less frequency of shipment;

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·         <!--[endif]-->PC2 (product registration and certification): 40% of the batches are inspected and supervised, which is applicable to the products shipped many times within one year;

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·         <!--[endif]-->PC3 (product certification): field inspection shall be carried out every 6 months, which is applicable to products that are frequently shipped within 1 year and have been added by the product registrant.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·         <!--[endif]-->Among them, Nigeria certification of dangerous products needs special attention. Since March 30, 2017, only PC1 and PC3 certificates can be applied for 31 categories of products in Nigeria high risk list, and PC3 certificates can only be issued to manufacturers. The scope of application of Nigeria certification for dangerous products is as follows:
