COC certification of Qatar

The certificate of conformity (COC) is required for import customs clearance when auto parts, auto tires and some electronic products are exported to Qatar. The Qatari government, through the Qatari Ministry of Commerce and trade (Consumer Protection Department) and the Qatari standards and Metrology Organization (qgosm), has promulgated a series of strict regulations on auto parts and auto tires.

Qatari exporters need to be aware of these strict regulations on auto parts and tires and obtain a certificate of conformity. At present, some electronic products are also included.

The local government issued a statement that "the controlled products can only be allowed to be imported for customs clearance after submitting the certificate of conformity (COC) issued by the authorized certification authority of the country of origin." "Importers will be severely punished if they are found not to meet the Gulf Standards Organisation (GSO) standards," the government also said

The following products are controlled products included in the implementation of the first and second phases of the project:

1) Automobile tire

2) safety belt

3) rim

4) brake pad

5) electric fans

6) electric iron

7) hair dryer 

Automobile tires are controlled products, but there is no need for a separate certificate of conformity (COC) at present, because the Qatari customs and Qatari standards and Metrology Organization (qgosm) can accept the Gulf standards organization's certificate of conformity for automobile tires imported into Qatar, rather than the Qatari certificate of conformity (COC).

Each batch of imported goods containing controlled products shall apply for a certificate of conformity (COC) issued by an authorized agency before shipment. The certificate of conformity (COC) is a mandatory document for Qatar import customs clearance, which is submitted by the importer for import customs clearance of controlled goods. The certificate of conformity (COC) certifies that the regulated products meet the corresponding standards of Qatar / Gulf standards organization or equivalent international standards.
