I. Background of GCC Certification
Since July 1, 2016, the Gulf countries will enforce GCC
certification requirements for some low-voltage electrical equipment and
supplies in accordance with their technical regulations.
After the implementation of the regulation, seven Gulf
countries (including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman,
Qatar, Kuwait and Yemen) must meet the safety regulations and EMC requirements
listed in the technical regulations for the local manufacture or importation of
some low-voltage electrical equipment into the market in that country.
2. GCC Authentication Model
Non-compulsory products: apply for customs clearance
documents in accordance with previous procedures;
Compulsory Products: Products are tested and GCC certificates
are issued by the accreditation bodies designated by GSO (Gulf Standardization
Organization).
At present, 13 specific categories of electrical products
have been classified into the compulsory GCC certification. The GCC type
