Ethiopian COC certification
The Ministry of
trade of Ethiopia recently issued 124 national mandatory standards (CES) and
required products to conduct mandatory testing and conformity confirmation
accordingly.
• exporters of
controlled products to Ethiopia (control list below) are required to obtain a
certificate of conformity before shipment. The importer is required to provide
the original certificate of conformity for import customs clearance in
Ethiopia. If necessary, Ethiopian customs will retain the electronic copy.
• 124 mandatory
standards and regulatory products can be divided into the following categories:
• food
• chemicals
• textiles,
leather, plastics and rubber products
• building
materials
• electrical and electronic products
The Ministry of trade of the Federal Democratic Republic of
Ethiopia (MOT) has made legal and technical regulatory requirements for regulated
products entering the country covered by 124 mandatory Ethiopian standards.
All imported controlled products shall be assessed for
conformity by reviewing their existing certificates and valid test reports.
Product inspection and testing (if required) will then be carried out and a
certificate of conformity will be required for the product to be cleared at the
Ethiopian port.
Requirements for goods to enter Ethiopia include:
It shall be confirmed that the controlled goods meet the
requirements of corresponding recognized standards. This Conformity
verification process may include physical inspection of the goods and, if
required, taking samples for testing.
The test shall be conducted in an approved laboratory
complying with ISO17025 standard.
The certificate of conformity is issued by an approved
independent third party inspection company prior to shipment for customs
clearance of the goods at the Ethiopian point of entry Operation process:
1、Submit the proforma invoice containing the address
information of the importer and exporter;
2、Submit the existing product test report;
3、If necessary, please provide HS code, product picture,
material, usage, factory ISO Certificate and other information to help confirm
the audit standard faster;
4、Technical department reviews documents. Check and approve the
scheduled inspection;
5、The second day after the inspection, the reexamination result
shall be notified, and the goods can be delivered after they are qualified, and
the final confirmed invoice of packing list shall be submitted to issue the
certificate.
The test report required to be provided
above shall be issued by a laboratory with ISO / IEC17025 qualification (in
China, it is a laboratory with CNAs qualification). The goods passing our audit
and inspection and issuing COC certificate will not be subject to frequent
sampling test or inspection after arriving in Ethiopia, which is of great
benefit to the importers. Product information and HS code can be provided to
confirm whether the product is in the compulsory inspection catalogue.
Product labels and instructions (if any)
shall be in English or Amharic. If the food is packaged before sale, the label
shall be in English and Amharic, and the name and address of the manufacturer
and expiration date shall be displayed. The product warranty period (validity
period) cannot be earlier than the date of arrival at the destination
